Public vs private at a glance
Public courses you can book online: Antelope Hills (North + South), StoneRidge, Quailwood Greens, Prescott Golf Club. Private clubs requiring members or reciprocal access: The Club at Prescott Lakes, Capital Canyon Club, Talking Rock. No major Prescott-area 18-hole course operates as a true semi-private in 2026.
Best for beginners
Quailwood Greens. Shorter par-68 layout, friendly pricing, walkable, low pressure. Antelope Hills South is also forgiving with open fairways and generous greens.
Best mountain views
Capital Canyon Club (private) for granite rock formations and Bradshaw Mountain views. StoneRidge is the best public option for big-view, mountain-meets-desert holes. Prescott Golf Club has classic Mingus and Bradshaw valley vistas.
Twilight and value plays
Quailwood Greens Two-Can Tuesday at $25 is the cheapest legitimate 18 in the Prescott area. StoneRidge afternoon and twilight rates regularly drop to $32 to $42. Antelope Hills via Advantage Card or off-peak booking. Prescott Golf Club Monday through Thursday mornings.
Closest courses to downtown Prescott
Antelope Hills is 5 to 7 minutes from Whiskey Row, the only public course inside Prescott city limits. Capital Canyon Club is 10 to 12 minutes south of downtown (private). The Club at Prescott Lakes is 10 to 12 minutes (private). StoneRidge is 20 to 25 minutes east into Prescott Valley. Quailwood Greens, Prescott Golf Club, and Talking Rock all run 20 to 30 minutes from downtown.
Elevation and how it changes your game
Prescott golf courses sit at 5,200 to 6,000 feet. Expect roughly 8 to 12 percent additional carry on full shots versus sea level: a typical 150-yard 7-iron may fly 165. Spin is reduced, so the ball releases more on greens. Bring an extra layer for early-morning rounds; sub-40 F mornings are common December through February.
